Impressions count how many times any URL from your site appeared in search results viewed by a user. An impression is counted when your URL appears in search results, whether or not the user scrolls to see it.

## Example

If your page shows on page 1 for 'running shoes' and that query is searched 10,000 times, you could get up to 10,000 impressions.

## How to apply it

Increase impressions by targeting more keywords, improving rankings for existing keywords, expanding to new content topics, and fixing indexing issues.

> **Pro tip:** High impressions with low clicks? Your rankings might be lower positions (7-10) or your titles aren't compelling. Low impressions but you're indexed? You might need more content or better keyword targeting.
