Interaction to Next Paint (INP) is replacing FID as a Core Web Vital. It measures responsiveness by observing all interactions during a page visit and reporting the worst (or near-worst) interaction latency.

## Example

Good: <200ms, Needs Improvement: 200-500ms, Poor: >500ms. Unlike FID (first interaction only), INP considers all interactions.

## How to apply it

Optimize JavaScript for all interactions (not just first), yield to the main thread frequently, prioritize visible content, minimize third-party script impact.

> **Pro tip:** INP is harder to optimize than FID because every interaction counts. Focus on optimizing your most common user interactions first.
