How opportunities are found and estimated
The five detectors, how click impact is estimated and how to use the list.
In this article
Opportunities looks at every query and page in your data and lists the changes most likely to bring more clicks. Each query or page appears once, under its biggest opportunity.
The detectors
| Detector | What it finds | Typical fix |
|---|---|---|
| Striking distance | Non-brand queries ranking 4–20 with real demand. | Strengthen the page and its internal links to reach the top 3. |
| Low CTR | Results on page one that earn far fewer clicks than their position usually gets. | Rewrite the title and meta description. |
| Content decay | Pages losing clicks compared with an earlier period. | Refresh the content and check what replaced you. |
| Cannibalization | Several of your pages competing for the same query. | Pick one page, merge or redirect the rest. |
| Missing content | Demand you get impressions for but have no good page for. | Write a dedicated page. |
How click impact is estimated
We compare where you rank today with the click-through rate a better position usually earns for that kind of query, and multiply by your impressions. It's an estimate of the size of the prize, not a promise, so use it to decide what to do first.
