What is Bounce Rate

Bounce rate measures the percentage of single-page sessions where users left your site without interacting further. While not a direct ranking factor, high bounce rates may indicate content that doesn't satisfy user intent.

Example

1,000 visitors, 600 left after one page = 60% bounce rate. Blogs often have 70-90% bounce rate (normal), e-commerce should be 20-45%.

How to apply it

Reduce bounce rate by: matching search intent, improving page speed, adding compelling CTAs, using internal links, improving content quality, and optimizing mobile experience.

Tip:Bounce rate without context is meaningless. A single-page site or a page that fully answers the query will have high bounce rate - and that's fine.
