Measures overall page responsiveness to user interactions.

What is INP (Interaction to Next Paint)

Interaction to Next Paint (INP) is replacing FID as a Core Web Vital. It measures responsiveness by observing all interactions during a page visit and reporting the worst (or near-worst) interaction latency.

Example

Good: <200ms, Needs Improvement: 200-500ms, Poor: >500ms. Unlike FID (first interaction only), INP considers all interactions.

How to apply it

Optimize JavaScript for all interactions (not just first), yield to the main thread frequently, prioritize visible content, minimize third-party script impact.

Tip:INP is harder to optimize than FID because every interaction counts. Focus on optimizing your most common user interactions first.
