What is Toxic Backlinks

Toxic backlinks are links from low-quality, spammy, or irrelevant websites that can negatively impact your SEO. They may be the result of negative SEO attacks, poor link building practices, or link schemes.

Example

Links from PBNs (private blog networks), link farms, adult sites, gambling sites (if unrelated), and sites with malware.

How to apply it

Regularly audit your backlink profile, identify toxic links using SEO tools, try to get them removed via outreach, and disavow as a last resort.

Tip:Don't panic about every low-quality link. Google usually ignores them. Only disavow if you have a manual penalty or obvious negative SEO attack.
