What is Duplicate Content

Duplicate content is identical or near-identical content that appears at multiple URLs, either within a single site or across different sites. It can cause crawl waste, dilute rankings, and confuse search engines about which version to rank.

Example

Product descriptions copied from manufacturers, www vs non-www versions, HTTP vs HTTPS versions, URL parameters creating duplicates.

How to apply it

Use canonical tags to specify preferred versions, implement proper redirects, set parameter handling in GSC, create unique content, consolidate similar pages.

Tip:Duplicate content typically isn't penalized - it's filtered. But it wastes crawl budget and can cause the wrong version to rank. Fix with canonicals.

Track it in GSC Boost
