What is Conversion Rate

Conversion rate measures the percentage of website visitors who complete a specific goal, such as making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or filling out a contact form. It connects SEO traffic to business outcomes.

Example

1,000 organic visitors, 30 made a purchase = 3% conversion rate. Average e-commerce is 2-3%, B2B lead gen is 2-5%.

How to apply it

Improve conversion rate by: attracting the right traffic (intent match), optimizing landing pages, improving UX, A/B testing CTAs, building trust with reviews/testimonials.

Tip:High-intent long-tail keywords often convert better than high-volume head terms. 100 visitors from 'buy running shoes online' > 1,000 from 'running'.
