What is CTR (Click-Through Rate)

Click-through rate (CTR) is the ratio of clicks to impressions, expressed as a percentage. It measures how often people who see your listing in search results actually click through to your website.

Example

500 clicks ÷ 10,000 impressions × 100 = 5% CTR. Average CTR for position 1 is ~28%, position 10 is ~2.5%.

How to apply it

Improve CTR by: writing compelling titles with power words, adding numbers/dates, using emotional triggers, testing different meta descriptions, earning rich snippets.

Tip:CTR varies by position. Compare your CTR to expected CTR for your position. If you're underperforming, focus on title/description optimization.
